Welcome to the September Edition of The Collector Times!
Forty five years ago, Star Trek debuted on television. Jesse Willey wanted to have a Star Trek themed issue
and I kinda blew off the idea until I consulted the more Star Trek inclined folks in my family. I didn't
require everyone to write something about it, but you'll be surprised how many people did.

My parents took me to my paternal grandparent's house for dinner weekly. After dinner, my dad and I would
watch Star Trek. I've always liked science fiction and Star Trek had a part in that. I remember the first
Star Trek movie after that very long hiatus. Yeah, the plot was weak and they spent about 10 minutes too
long going over the Enterprise with mech porn abandon, but I cried at intervals anyway, because Star Trek
was back. Paul and Sidra watched a lot of Star Trek, but the only one I liked was Deep Space 9. I think
my favorite episode of that version was the one where Quark crashed landed outside of Roswell New Mexico
and became the Roswell alien. That was inventive!
But enough about Star Trek, what else are my writers pontificating on this month? The twins that share a
brain, Wally Flores Jr. and Jason Bourgeois talk about Flashpoint and the
DC Universe reboot, respectively. I have read and perused, read and thought and
read some more. I finally turned in my new DC order last weekend. My retailer requires that I purchase
10 books a month to maintain my subscription so that's exactly what I did. Here's the books I'm getting:
- Legion of Superheroes
- Legion Lost - I must have my Legion crack!
- O.M.AC.
Paul was looking over my shoulder while I was typing up my list and boggled when he saw this.
- "One Man Army Corp?" he asked.
- "Yeah, Keith Giffen," I replied.
- "OK, that makes sense."
- Green Arrow (always liked the character, haven't followed him lately, time to check in)
- Justice League International (I hope it's funny)
- Blue Beetle (like the character)
- Batwoman (like the character)
- Stormwatch (read it when it was fairly new and liked it)
- Animal Man (I'm a nature lover, but didn't read the first run)
- DC Comics Presents (it'll probably get canceled about issue 6, but I like comics that have a changing cast of characters)
I guess I'll find out how good my choices are this month.
And last, but not least, AJ Reardon gives us a book review about zombies.
Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains!
