I may not read the same comic books that the others
out there are reading, but here's my spin on what's
out in the market right now:
- IDENTITY CRISIS ... DC's "must-read" at the moment.
Writer Brad Meltzer cleverly spins a murder-mystery
while weaving in references and characters from '70s
DC stories.
- BATMAN: WAR GAMES (ongoing, various Bat-titles) ...
The first act started slow but picked up steam when
Tim Drake was finally seen again. The confident,
heroic, Tim Drake, that is. Surprisingly, the story
has gotten more interesting when Batman himself hasn't
been around in it.
- AQUAMAN ... DC's resident sea-dweller now has
company! San Diego has now become Sub Diego as the
west coast city has mostly sunk into the ocean.
Writer Will Pfeifer (from H-E-R-O) has made this an
interesting read.
- DAREDEVIL ... Forget the movie. This is probably the
best depiction of the character since its' inception.
See why Brian Michael Bendis won the Wizard award for
best fan writer.
- POWERLESS ... This Marvel mini-series finds some
familiar characters, well ... powerless. It's as if
the incidents or accidents that gave them injuries and
not the powers that we have known them to have.
- LOKI ... Another Marvel mini-series with gorgeous
painted artwork from Esad Ribic.
- SHE-HULK ... A fun book! A slice of the Marvel
Universe that remembers past characters and puts them
in imaginitive settings.
